Our mission is to give back to our community by encouraging emotional, educational, and spiritual enrichment. We desire to positively influence under-served youth; to support and sustain families; build community; and to transform lives. While not affiliated with any specific local church, The Station exists to tangibly demonstrate "loving your neighbor" in a God-honoring and Christ-centered manner. By providing a safe, welcoming location, customers of all ages and faith backgrounds can connect and share life together. The isolation and walls so common in our current culture are overcome with a simple cup of coffee shared, game played, or event enjoyed with our neighbors. Relationships are built and connections are established. HISTORY AND HAPPENINGS Established in 2008 by a local family, The Station was designed to address the need for a welcoming community-meeting center. The Station incorporates a coffee shop, game room, and meeting place used by both individuals and groups. A coffee and soda counter is the central hub within The Station. It is staffed by employees with a common vision of promoting positive activities and providing a sense of true community. In March of 2010, The Station re-organized as a not-for-profit organization to promote broad community support for the facility. A volunteer group called "Friends of The Station" organized to help run, promote, and celebrate the good things happening at The Station. In June of 2010, The Station acquired Project Serve, a community service program that began in the Stanwood area in November of 2007. It has been renamed Serve It Up! and is extending its reach into the community through The Station. |
